According to studies, the intake of caffeine and sugar, such as in chocolate, can increase people’s anxiety levels. Having caffeine or a chocolate drink before going to sleep has never been recommended. Coffee and chocolate are guaranteed to keep you awake and you will have a very disrupted and fidgety night. Not being able to sleep well at night can make you feel drowsy, irritable and overly anxious during the day. So to get a good night’s sleep, don’t drink that hot chocolate or coffee before bed. If you really want to drink coffee or chocolate, drink it three hours before you retire. 

Studies have shown that smoking can increase the level of anxiety in people. Many people who are smokers, do so to relieve stress and relax, but if they have an anxiety disorder it does not help. If you are serious about getting rid of your anxiety, it would be wise to stop smoking, even if you have heard this a hundred times before. You certainly don’t have to be lectured about qutting or how bad smoking is for you.

Exercise is one of those things that has proven to be excellent to relieve stress. After a busy and stressful day at the office, go to the gym or simply do simple physical activities like walking, jogging or climbing stairs. Start exercising as soon as you can as this will help to ease your mind and relax your muscles and is an excellent panic attack anxiety treatment.

Anxiety Treatment Without Medication

Anxiety treatment without medication is often the preferred option and resorting to medication is usually the last resort. Many people prefer to try some of the natural methods first, as they would rather not have to take ongoing paharmaceutical medication. Also a sufferer of anxiety, especially social anxiety, does not like the thought of attending therapy sessions. Firstly because it is a group environment and secondly because they can be expensive. This is why an anxiety home treatment is a good alternative to try. There are programs that you can try in your own home, which are extremely effective and they have proven to be very successful anxiety treatments.

Fear of Flying Symptoms

The fear of flying is one fear that almost everyone who has flown has experienced to some degree.For a large number, it is no more than an annoyance; perhaps disagreeable but nothing too troubling. 

Others, however, experience physical and mental symptoms that can range from simply “tense” to “outright panic”.There are a number of useful treatments for the fear of flying.What will work for you will probably depend on where you are on that scale. 

Fear of flying symptoms often have real life causes that, if identified, may help a person with mild fear of flying overcome their anxiety.  What often happens is a person encounters a symptom, and assuming it is caused by fear of flying, they get more and more upset until major panic sets in.  If they can recognize that pattern early on, they can stop the cycle in its tracks and overcome their mild fear of flying. 

For example, unstable air pressure in the aircraft cabin often results in inner ear problems.Inner ear problems can result in a wide variety of unpleasant symptoms, including nausea, tingly ears and skin, dizziness and loss of orientation.These are the same symptoms that occur when a person is anxious, and if they don’t recognize the source of the symptoms they may psyche themselves out and accelerate their fear beyond a normal level. 

Additionally, spending long periods in the tight seats in an airplane cabin can cause muscular pain, joint pain, and tingling from lack of blood flow.  These too are all symptoms often experienced during panic or severe anxiety attacks.  Therefore, the passenger who feels these symptoms may misdiagnose a mere physical reaction to small seating quarters as a fear of flying. 

Clearly, there are those whose fear of flying is more significant than the mild fear described here.  For those folks, mere recognition that the physical symptoms could be coming from other sources than the fear of flying may not be enough.   But for some, this awareness is the first line of defense in combating their fears for good.

Are You Living With Anxiety and Depression?

Depression and anxiety are both serious mental illnesses. Unfortunately, they can be go together and make everyday life very difficult for people who are suffering. Due to the nature of both anxiety and depression, for a person to regain control of their life, understanding the signs and symptoms of the two conditions is vital.

While one condition doesn’t necessarily cause the other, it is not at all uncommon to see them manifest together. Considering the potential ramifications of both anxiety and depression, early diagnosis and proper treatment is almost always advisable.
